How do I register as a user of ERCOT’s Public API, access the Public API, and get started?

I want to obtain data via the API from 2022, but I can’t access it. What’s the problem?
The earliest date for which data can be obtained via the ERCOT Public API is Dec. 11, 2023. To obtain data prior to Dec. 11, 2023, it must be manually downloaded through ERCOT’s Data Access Portal.
What is required to make an API call?
In order to make an API call, you must first register and then obtain a client ID and subscription key. These items are required in order to make a successful API call. Follow our ERCOT Data Access Portal and ERCOT API Explorer Registration and Getting Started User Guide for step-by-step instructions.

The Data Access Portal provides browser-level access to ERCOT Public data. Users can search and find data without the need to download the data to their own computing devices.

Is there a delay in posting the latest files to the Data Access Portal?
`Yes, there is a delay. Archived reports and data posted to the Data Access Portal will be available approximately one hour after the time the information is posted to ERCOT.com.
The history in the Data Access Portal only goes back to a certain date. Is there more history available?
The Data Access Portal search only goes back as far as November 30, 2023. However, to obtain archival data prior to November 30, 2023, you can use the Data Access Portal functionality to download the desired file package.
I don’t see the data I want. What can I do to request the data?
To obtain Public data that is not on the website use the ERCOT Market Information List (EMIL). It provides a searchable list of the data products, the latest reports, and report locations. You can then submit a data request for the desired data products via the Public Portal.
Who can I contact with general questions about the Data Access Portal?
You can submit a question related to the latest updates via the ERCOT Public Portal.
What is the project timeline?
ERCOT continues to enhance the Data Access Portal by adding new data and migrating data from other sources. This timeline will be refined as additional information becomes available.
How often is the data updated on the Data Access Portal?
Data updating frequency will vary. Information can be found within the product details of each item in the ERCOT Market Information List (EMIL). Search for the desired data product, click the link to open it, then click the Show EMIL Information link.
